What Skumetrica reads, and where it goes.
Skumetrica is an analytics tool for Amazon sellers. It reads the selling data in your own Amazon account, stores it, and shows it back to you as figures, alerts and a short written summary. This page says exactly which data that is, where it is kept, and the three places any of it leaves our server — including the one that comes back to you.
It is written to be checked rather than agreed to. If something below is not true of the software, that is a fault worth reporting to hello@skumetrica.com.
Who is responsible
Skumetrica operates this service and is the data controller for it. Contact: hello@skumetrica.com.
How access is granted
Skumetrica holds no Amazon credentials of its own. You register a private application inside your own Amazon Seller Central and Amazon Advertising accounts, and give that application's keys to Skumetrica. Access is read-only: nothing is listed, repriced, cancelled or shipped by this software, and it cannot be.
Because the application is yours, you can withdraw its access at any time from within Amazon, without asking us and without waiting for us. Doing so stops all further reading immediately.
What is read from Amazon
Selling Partner API
| Data | What it contains |
|---|---|
| Orders | Order id, date, status, marketplace, fulfilment channel, SKU, ASIN, product title, quantity, item and shipping price, tax, gift wrap, promotional discounts, and the city, state, postal code and country an order shipped to. |
| Fees and finances | Every charge Amazon posted against the account: referral fees, fulfilment fees, storage, refund administration, promotional rebates and reimbursements. |
| Inventory | Units sellable, reserved, unsellable, inbound and in transfer, per SKU and per marketplace, plus Amazon's own restock recommendations and the inventory ledger. |
| Returns | What came back, when, the reason code Amazon recorded, the disposition, and any comment the buyer wrote. |
| Sales and traffic | Sessions, page views, buy box percentage and conversion, by ASIN, by marketplace and by day. |
| Account structure | Which marketplaces the account is registered in, and the seller and marketplace identifiers Amazon uses to name them. |
Advertising API
Only if you authorise it separately. Amazon bills advertising outside the finances API, so it needs its own permission, and the product works without it — it simply says that your profit figures exclude advertising rather than quietly reporting a better margin than you have.
| Data | What it contains |
|---|---|
| Advertising performance | Campaign id and name, advertising product type, ASIN, impressions, clicks, spend, and the sales, orders and units Amazon attributed to advertising — per day and per marketplace. |
| Advertising profiles | The advertising account identifiers needed to ask for the figures above. |
Information about your buyers
Amazon's reports carry some information about the people who bought from you. Skumetrica is a business analytics tool and does not want most of it, so this is what it does and does not keep.
Not stored at all: buyer names, email addresses, street addresses, telephone numbers, and payment or card details. These are never written to our database.
Stored: the city, state or region, postal code and country an order shipped to, held against the order and not against any named person; and the free text a buyer wrote when returning an item, exactly as Amazon supplied it. Shipping location is what the Geography page is made of. Return comments are kept because "not as described" and a sentence explaining what was wrong are different amounts of help.
Return comments are written by buyers and are not filtered. A buyer can type anything into that box, including something personal. Those comments are stored as written and are included in the material sent to Anthropic when the daily written summary is generated — see below. If you would rather that did not happen, the summary is an optional part of the product and can be switched off on your billing page, or never switched on.
Where data leaves our server
Three places, and only three.
Anthropic — the daily written summary
If your plan includes the written summary, once a day a compiled set of figures about your account is sent to Anthropic's API, which returns a few paragraphs of plain English about them. What is sent is the named figures this application has already computed — revenue, margin, fees, stock cover, conversion and so on — together with any buyer comments on returns in the period.
Individual orders are not sent. No order identifiers, no shipping addresses, no line items. Anthropic does not train models on data submitted through its API. If you do not want anything sent, do not take the summary: every figure, alert and export works without it.
Stripe — payment
Subscriptions are handled by Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe directly and are never seen, transmitted or stored by Skumetrica. What we hold is the identifier Stripe gives us for your customer record, your plan, and whether it is paid. Stripe's own privacy policy governs what it does with the card.
Your inbox — the alert emails
When something needs attention — stock about to run out, units Amazon can no longer sell, a conversion drop, exchange rates or advertising figures gone stale, units with no cost recorded, or the data feed itself stalling — Skumetrica can send an email listing what changed. Nothing new leaves the machine to do this: the email carries the same figures the dashboard already shows, and nothing else. No buyer names, no buyer addresses, no order-level detail of any kind.
At most once a day, at 07:00 in whichever marketplace the account trades in most, to whoever is listed as a user on the account. Each person gets their own copy, sent to the address they sign in with — never a shared line that would disclose one person's address to another. An account can ask for it weekly instead, or turn it off altogether, on the Settings page.
Every message carries a link that stops it, and the link needs no login: someone who has stopped reading these emails should not have to sign in to stop receiving them. Opting out is per person, so one user turning the emails off does not silence anyone else on the account. The same choice, and which kinds of alert to hear about, is also on the Settings page.
What was sent is recorded — the account, the address, the kind of alert, the subject, the message's id and when it went, and whether our mail system accepted it. That is what lets a message that never arrived be traced rather than argued about. It does not say the message was delivered — nothing available to us can promise that — and it does not keep what the message said.
Nothing else
Your data is not sold, rented, brokered, pooled with other sellers', used to build market benchmarks, or given to advertisers. There are no third-party trackers or analytics scripts on the signed-in pages.
How it is stored
- All traffic to the site is over HTTPS.
- Your Amazon keys are encrypted before they are written, and the encryption key is held outside the application directory so that a copy of the database is not a copy of your credentials.
- A credential is never stored until Amazon has accepted it, so a typed mistake is refused rather than kept.
- Every query against selling data is scoped to one account by a guard that refuses to run an unscoped one. It is tested on every page.
- Passwords are stored only as hashes and cannot be read back, by us or by anyone else.
How long it is kept
Selling data is kept for as long as your account is open, because the product's job is comparing this year with last year. Ask us to delete it and we will remove the account and everything belonging to it. Pausing or cancelling a subscription does not delete anything — it locks the pages and leaves the data intact, so that paying again restores the history rather than starting from nothing.
What you can ask for
Depending on where you live you may have statutory rights over this data; we apply the following to everyone regardless.
- A copy. Every screen exports to CSV, and we will supply a full export on request.
- Correction of anything wrong that came from us rather than from Amazon.
- Deletion of your account and its data.
- Withdrawal of access, which you can do yourself in Amazon at any moment, with or without telling us.
